Welcome to my Oops-a-Daisy Dwelling! Why "Dwelling?" Well, my craft area is located in my lower level and since I am always in my craft area being creative, organizing, or just looking through my supplies I consider myself a "Cellar Dweller."
I wanted to share with you some of my organizational tips in having a craft area in a small location. As with any space - we have to work with what we've got. I happen to share my craft space with the office and family room. I not only wanted to be able to store all of my craft supplies in a safe, neat, and easily accessible location - I also didn't want them visible "to the world."
This craft table conveniently pulls out when I want to be creative - and folds back up when not in use. While it is small, it provides just enough storage and workspace for me (and it also happened to match my office furniture perfectly). I got this as a Christmas present in 2008 from my parents. It is made by Sauder and is something that you have to put together. My parents ordered it on-line for me at a really good price - if you are interested visit www.wesellsauder.com.
The picture above shows two TV stands I purchased many years ago from Walmart and a printer cart that goes with my office set. I desperately needed more storage and decided to "overtake" these items to help store my craft supplies. When considering remodeling or adding storage pieces to your existing craft room - to save money look around your home and see if there are any pieces that you can use. Maybe a bureau or TV furniture? The printer stand provides more usable workspace by having my paper cutter and Big Shot. I love having these two items separate from my everyday crafting space! In the bottom drawer I also store all of my Stampin' Up! cardstock. This helps me keep the paper away from fluorescent light, dust, and my kitties (who think that any piece of paper is a bed just for them to lie on).
The pictures above show my Stampin' Up! cardstock storage and also a basket, purchased at Michaels, that stores all of my ribbon. If you can't tell - I have basketitis. I love love love baskets! I find them so easy to store items and bring them to my workspace when I need them.
One of the most popular questions on storage solutions is how to store stamps. I have all of my Stampin' Up! stamps in these baskets (purchased as Target) organized by alphabetical order. My wonderful Upline, Mary Fish, uses a 3-ring binder to help organize all of her stamps - and I thought it was such a wonderful idea that I did the same. This helps so much when I am in a creative mode - I don't have to go through the stamp packages one by one, I only have to turn a page in my binder.
Another corner of my craft area - this cart purchased at Target stores my Cricut machine and designed boxes hide misc. supplies. I also have shelves purchased at Walmart that display all of my colorful buttons and flowers.
A sister cabinet to the craft cart - easily hides a number of my craft supplies.
